About Me

Is it acceptable to start with “once upon a time”?

I’m an educator based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I’ve spent my career helping students turn challenges into stepping stones. Whether we’re breaking down SAT passages, untangling math puzzles, or navigating the big questions of education, I believe in clear goals, strong foundations, and the power of showing up with heart and humor.

My love for learning started in the rural corners of Pennsylvania, with a phenomenal local library and parents who never stopped pushing for education. High school had its fair share of goofing off, but it also sparked admiration for some truly unforgettable teachers—Mertz, Wren, Hardy, Stuckey, and a few others whose names escape me (who did I have in 3rd grade?). The good examples shaped me, and the bad ones taught me just as much.

As the first in my family to attend college, I still remember the thrill of that first visit: the sense of community, the endless food, and the overwhelming feeling that the world was wide open. It’s a feeling I strive to pass on to my students every day. My teaching journey has taken me to high schools, colleges, prison classrooms, living rooms of blue-collar families, and even celebrity tutoring gigs. Each stop has added to a collection of relationships that I will always treasure.

Today, I specialize in math, English, Social Sciences, and standardized test prep (SAT/ACT/SSAT), and I view these exams not as barriers—but as training grounds. Teaching a student how to wield language with precision, solve math like it’s a layered puzzle, and break down reading like a scientist? That’s the good stuff. That’s the privilege. Outside the classroom, I’m a gym regular, guitar dabbler, tech tinkerer, and proudly mediocre DIY home repairman, and shabby DIY home repairman.
